We cut by hand and carry the lavender a few metres to the still. Steam draws the flower open, and what cools and settles is two things at once — a thin film of essential oil above, and beneath it this: the water the flower gave up. Softer than the oil. Rounder. Ready to use exactly as it comes.
Three cultivars, three different mornings
Melissa — floral, lifted with lemon. The one that belongs at the end of the day, over a pillow, five minutes before you stop thinking.
Superblue — sweet, honeyed, quiet. Our gentlest, and the one for skin that argues with everything else.
Grosso — green, bracing, unmistakable. The lavender in your memory. Best across linen and through a room.
How people actually use it

What it is not
It is not essential oil watered down. Oil and water separate in the still and carry different parts of the plant; the hydrosol keeps the ones that dissolve. That is why it is gentle enough for every day when the oil is not. The long version, if you like the long version.
As with anything new on skin, a small patch test first is never wasted.

Out of the sun. Nozzle clean. In the fridge if you want the full year from it — and for August.
