Product details
It takes a great deal of flower to fill this bottle. That is the whole story of essential oil, and the reason it is measured in drops.
We cut in the morning, before the day's heat takes anything off the flower, and it travels a few metres to the still. One harvest, one run, one cultivar at a time — and nothing blended in afterwards to stretch it.
Three cultivars, three different oils
Melissa — floral and lifted with lemon, and the one we have least of. A few drops in a diffuser an hour before bed.
Superblue — sweet, honeyed, low in camphor. The forgiving one, and the one that goes into soap and balm without shouting.
Grosso — green and bracing with a clean camphor finish. This is the lavender in everyone's memory. It will scent a whole floor of a house.
Using it well
- A few drops in a diffuser — what most of this bottle is for.
- For skin, dilute it: six to twelve drops into 30 ml of a carrier oil. Neat essential oil is too strong to go on directly, and that is not caution, it is chemistry.
- For soap, balm, candles and bath salts, the concentration is the point.
- Two drops on a wool dryer ball will carry a whole load of laundry.
If what you really want is lavender on your skin every day, buy the hydrosol instead. It was made for that.
Keeping it
Cap on, cool, dark. Light and air are what age it, not time — a half-empty bottle turns faster than a full one.
Not sure which cultivar?
The 5 ml exists for exactly that. Most people arrive certain and leave with a different favourite.
